Steel Fabrication
Mild steel and stainless assemblies, from single items to batch production.

We work out the problem, design the solution, make it and fit it, for customers who cannot absorb a part being wrong. Access equipment that carries people, chassis that carry drivers, structures that carry loads.
Come in at any stage. Most customers arrive in the middle, with a drawing to price, or something on site that has to change, and that is entirely normal. The point is that the stages either side are available from the same business when you need them.
Most enquiries arrive as one of three things: a problem that has not been solved yet, a drawing that needs making, or something on site that has to be dealt with in place. They are handled differently, so it is worth saying which one you have.
All three run through the same works and the same engineers. A problem worked out in the first can be manufactured in the second without the drawing changing hands.
Design, fabrication, welding and machining happen under one roof and under one set of hands. Nothing is sub-let to a third party without you being told, and nobody quotes a job they have not read.
The principal business is the design and fabrication of products made to customer specification, in mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium and steel-and-glass assemblies. The CNC machine shop supports that fabrication work and is also available as a standalone service.
Where a job needs profiling capacity beyond our own, it is cut within the group by our sister company rather than bought on the open market, which keeps the schedule, the material certification and the responsibility in one place.

Rework on a fabricated assembly is rarely cheap. On a safety-related product it is not acceptable at all.
Wheelchair access ramps for public transport are quality-checked twice before despatch. That is not a service promise. It is the only economic way to build something a person stands on.
Most enquiries touch more than one process. Quoting them together removes double handling, transport between suppliers, and the interface risk that appears whenever a job is split across firms.

Every figure below is a capability you can place work against today, not a company statistic.
Not an industry. Work where being wrong is measured in more than money: something a person stands on, something that goes into a demanding environment, something an inspector signs.

From design and engineering consultancy through to fabrication, machining, welding and installation, Van Driel Engineering brings practical engineering expertise and manufacturing capability together under one roof. Our customers work directly with experienced engineers and a skilled production team, with clear communication from initial enquiry through to manufacture and delivery.
The same business defines the requirement, designs the solution, makes it and fits it. Nothing is handed across a commercial boundary mid-project.
Across mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium, in one shop rather than spread across three subcontractors.
Supporting the fabrication work and available as a standalone service. Manual capability alongside it, including a Colchester Mastiff centre lathe.
Sheet, plate, tube, box section, angle, channel, flat bar and hollow sections.
Work is checked against the drawing and the specification it was quoted to, by the people who made it. Where a job needs an inspection or documentation regime beyond that, say so at enquiry and it is priced in.
Profiling, forming, machining and welding stay inside the group rather than crossing three unrelated suppliers.

Independent thinking. Stronger engineering capability.
Van Driel Engineering combines the responsiveness and technical knowledge of an established engineering business with the resources and capability of a wider UK engineering group. Customers continue to deal directly with the Van Driel team, with the added strength of broader engineering, manufacturing and operational capability when a project requires it.
The work that comes back to us is the work where being wrong is not an option.
Much of this work sits inside somebody else’s product or building, and several of our customers compete with each other. We do not publish their names, their volumes or their words without written permission, and we have not asked them for it.
The reference that matters in this trade is repeat work, and that is a conversation rather than a quotation on a website. Ask us about work in your sector and we will tell you what we can.
Upload DXF, DWG, PDF or STEP files with your enquiry. Every quotation states scope, material specification, finish and lead time in writing before you commit.
